I saw these on the internet for around 30.00. I loved them but couldn't wrap my head around why they cost 30.00 each. Yikes. It was sticks, glue and a bit of material. Well of course I decided to tackle them on my own. Being winter time however, I wasn't about to schlump around a lake in 20 degree weather.
I ran to the back yard to some rotting wood I had, (yes, I have that kind of yard) and found a couple of pieces that would do instead of actual drift wood. Drilled a hole in the middle, hot glued a stick into it then went in search of scrap material. I dyed a stained white napkin with tea to give it a canvas look and found some stripe material. Any will do, even an old dress shirt. I then added tiny eye hooks to each end and tied the sails to them. You can just glue them but I wanted a little bit of boat "hardware" for interest.
